The Atlassian Team Europe event was held in Barcelona last October, bringing together the technology community around the latest innovations in project management. This year, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud security and new team strategies were at the heart of discussions, marking a major step forward for Atlassian users.
The event brought together over 2,000 Atlassian enthusiasts, customers and partners worldwide to attend over 50 sessions, including 3 keynotes.
In this insight, our team looks back on their experience at Atlassian Team Europe, and what they didn’t want to miss.
Day 1: Leadership and AI Power
The event kicked off with a keynote by Arsène Wenger, who captivated the audience with his thoughts on leadership and how it can transform teams, whether sporting or professional. His pragmatic approach to performance management resonated with many of the participants. In particular, one participant pointed out that Wenger has “humanized leadership”, showing that listening and resilience are just as crucial to project success as strategy.
‘You need what I call the 3CS. You need consistency in your behavior, you need contrition and to be capable of connecting with people’ – Arsène Wenger, Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA.
The next session, entitled “AI as your teammate”, introduced Rovo. An artificial intelligence tool that promises to revolutionize the way teams collaborate. With features such as Rovo Search and Rovo Chat, this AI integrates directly with Jira and Confluence tools to offer instant, contextualized responses, facilitating decision-making and the automation of repetitive tasks. Exchanges between participants highlighted their enthusiasm for the possibilities offered by this AI, with some describing it as “a new asset for boosting productivity within remote teams”.
Other sessions on the first day, such as “Teamwork Foundations”, showed how the foundations of collaboration are being redefined thanks to new technologies. In particular, this session highlighted tools that facilitate the alignment of teams on common objectives, with solutions that optimize planning and knowledge sharing.
Day 2: Strategy and Enhanced Security for Businesses
Day two began with the launch of a powerful new tool: Atlassian Focus. This product, designed for strategic leaders, provides a clear visualization of long-term objectives and their progress. During the “Superpower for your strategic vision” session, Focus was presented as an essential tool for leaders seeking to measure their organization’s overall performance, while enabling better collaboration between teams. This solution attracted particular attention, with participants seeing it as a “strategic navigation system” capable of avoiding the pitfalls of large-scale corporate management.
The focus on security also marked the day, with the presentation of Atlassian Guard Premium. This advanced security solution was described as a “shield” for companies operating in mission-critical cloud environments, offering real-time monitoring and automated responses to threats. The session “Building a security-first culture with Atlassian” detailed best practices for integrating robust security policies into DevOps teams, which attracted a lot of positive feedback on social networks. Participants particularly appreciated the seamless integration of security features into existing tools, enabling better access management and enhanced protection of sensitive data.
Day 3: Cloud Transformation and DevOps Automation
The final day focused on cloud transformation and DevOps process optimization. The session “Mastering your move: Best practices for migrating Jira Service Management to Atlassian Cloud” provided concrete examples of successful cloud migration. Speakers focused on how Atlassian Cloud not only reduces costs, but also improves flexibility and security.
Finally, sessions on Bitbucket and Compass showed how these tools can strengthen collaboration in DevOps teams, simplifying the management of development pipelines and ensuring better visibility over the entire application life cycle. The session “Empowering teams with Compass for better software delivery” illustrated how companies can shorten delivery times while maintaining high quality thanks to the seamless integration of Atlassian tools.
